Immigrant Defense Network (“IDN”) owns and operates the immigrantdefensenetwork.org emails and website (“Site”).

Immigrant Defense Network is a network alliance of 90+ organizations, groups, and individuals. IDN is committed to protecting the sensitive data of all its members and in compliance with applicable data protection laws and regulations. IDN’s Data Use & Privacy Policy aims to provide you with an outline about how your personal information may be collected, used, and shared by IDN when you use the Site. Please read it below.

Personal Information We Collect

Immigrant Defense Network collects data through our email server and website in a variety of ways. However, you can generally visit the Site without revealing any personally identifiable information. Personally identifiable information (“PII”) is generally defined as information that may be able to identify you such as, but not limited to, name, address, contact info, demographics, etc.

There are areas on the Site where you may be asked to provide IDN with PII. For example, PII such as name, mailing address, email, phone number, and other information may be collected from you when you:

  • make donations to IDN;

  • take action by signing petitions or pledges;

  • provide information for personalized action target letters and communications;

  • register for IDN events, meetings, webinars, livestreams, and trainings;

  • download resources hosted or linked on the Site;

  • contact IDN using the Site’s form;

  • fill out surveys and questionnaires; and/or

  • sign up for IDN emails, newsletters, and other redirected resources and sites.

Cookies: The Site may use cookies to uniquely identify you as a visitor. Cookies are small files that are transmitted to your browser when you visit the Site. Cookie usage may include but is not limited to:

• If you leave a comment on the Site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment.

• If you log in to a password-protected page on the Site, cookies may be saved in your browser.

You may be able to delete the cookies by consulting your browser and/or computer settings. Please note that any deletion of cookies could affect how the Site appears and/or operates for you.

Why We Use Your Information

IDN may use your PII to:

  • maintain proper business and other relevant records;

  • process financial transactions made to IDN;

  • process registrations, schedule and administer events, meetings, webinars, livestreams, and trainings;

  • administer/process/send action petitions, pledges, action letters, emails, resources, newsletters, updates, communications;

  • process requests to join IDN’s membership list;

  • process and catalog responses to surveys or questionnaires;

  • maintain the content and general administration of the Site and conduct Site data analysis.

Who We Share Your Information With

By providing IDN with the PII and other data referenced above, you agree that IDN may use this information in accordance with the terms of this Policy.

Except where noted, IDN will not sell or share your PII with any person or entity outside of IDN.

  • IDN uses Zoom as a platform to register and host webinars, trainings, and workshops where participants may share PII to access and participate. See Zoom’s privacy policy here: https://explore.zoom.us/en/privacy/

The Site may integrate with social media platforms which let you share actions you take on our Site with other apps, sites, or media. Please review the privacy policies of those social media platforms for information about how they handle the data you provide to or share through them.

Your Rights Over Your Information

IDN will retain your PII only for as long as needed for the purposes outlined in this Policy. You can request to review and/or edit the PII IDN holds about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we delete any personal data we hold about you. Please note that IDN will do its best to accommodate your request, but this does not include any data we must retain for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

IDN reserves the right to maintain proper business records as required by law, or for other organizational reasons permitted by law even if such records contain your PII.

How We Protect Your Information

IDN aims to keep your data safe and prevent unauthorized access to, and improper use of, personal information we collect online. We make good faith efforts to store information collected by the Site in a secure operating environment and protect data through digital security measures such as encryption of data and monitoring for malware.

While IDN takes the issue of protecting your PII seriously, we cannot guarantee that all information sent over the internet is fully secure. We encourage all Site visitors to practice digital security and discretion in order to protect your data.
